Frontier wireless modems and routers are built with gaming performance in mind, featuring:
Internet routers, often provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), act as a gateway to the Internet. Internet routers help manage and direct traffic between your home and the Internet, making it possible for devices like gaming consoles, iPads, and laptops to connect to the Internet.
Deciding on the best Internet router for your needs can be challenging. Generally, the Internet router provided by your ISP is sufficient. If you do more bandwidth-heavy activities, like streaming 4K movies or a lot of online gaming, or if you live in a household where there are numerous devices connected to the Internet at once, you may want to consider a more powerful Internet router to help manage bandwidth.
A wireless router makes it possible for you to connect devices to the Internet without having to run ethernet cables all over your house. You can surf the Internet on your laptop from the couch to find the recipe you want, and move to the kitchen to start cooking without having to unplug or otherwise disconnect from the Internet.
Smart home devices, security systems, and pretty much any device you want to connect to the Internet can do so with a wireless router.
All Frontier Fiber Internet plans include an eero 7 router that distributes high-speed internet throughout your home via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. In addition to your eero 7 router, you’ll also get an Optical Network Terminal (ONT), which will function as your modem. The ONT is a device that converts the fiber optic signal into an Ethernet signal that your router can understand. An expert technician will install the ONT and connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable, bringing fast Wi-Fi to your home.
The modem is the device that connects to your ISP, which connects to the Internet. Before routers were built into Internet modems, you needed both devices to connect to the Internet. A desktop connected to the router, which connected to the Internet modem, which connected to your ISP and the Internet.
Today, when you get an Internet modem from your ISP, it usually includes a router. If you live in a Internet area, a Internet modem generally has a built-in router. If you live in a Fiber Optic area, the Fiber Optic modem generally includes a Fiber-compatible router.
You can also connect your own router to an Internet modem to better manage bandwidth. This can be important if you connect multiple devices to the Internet at once, or are heavy into online gaming and streaming.

What is the best modem for Frontier Fiber Internet?
Frontier Fiber Internet doesn’t require a traditional modem. Instead, Frontier provides an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) that connects to our fiber-optic network and functions as both a modem and router.
Can I use my own router with Frontier Internet?
Yes, you can use your own router with Frontier Fiber Internet. Since Frontier provides an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) instead of a traditional modem, you don’t need to worry about modem compatibility.
What routers are compatible with Frontier?
Frontier Fiber Internet works with any router that supports Ethernet WAN connections, but the best options depend on your speed plan and coverage needs. Since Frontier provides an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) instead of a modem, you just need a router with a Gigabit or Multi-Gigabit WAN port.
How do I reset my Frontier router?
You can reset your Frontier router with a reboot (soft reset) or factory reset (hard reset).
A soft reset doesn’t erase settings and can fix common connection issues. We recommend trying this first if you’re having connectivity issues.
If you need a fresh restart, a hard reset will erase all custom settings, including Wi-Fi names, passwords, and configurations.
After resetting:
